Gone were all of my clever ideas of how to tell my sweet husband that we are going to have a baby...all i could say on that monumental day was, "honey, come here!", from behind the closed bathroom door. Josh came to the door slowly and peeked his head in. I was (romantically) sitting on the toilet, grinning from ear to ear. I pointed to the little e.p.t. stick on the counter. He looked at me in disbelief. I smiled and said, "We're PREGNANT!!" He squatted down and gave me a hug...and still today that news is sinking in.For me, I think the more people we tell, the more it sinks in. But i am sure that it will be even more and more "real" as we have our first doctors visit and as my once small tummy
becomes bigger and bigger :) Here are some samples of how we told our family and friends:
1st call, Lila's Mom: 10 minutes of chatting catching up, almost at the end of the conversation Lila says to Renda "So when do you think y'all will be coming down to Charleston again?" She replies with a 'not too sure' kinda answer. Lila: "Well how about around April 26th...you know...about 9 months?" Renda...pause..."LILA JEAN.....LILA JEAN....LILA JEAN" (ha ha, she was so caught off guard and shocked, she was thrilled!)
Lila: "Grandma, we're pregnant"
Imogene: "Oh well isn't that exciting! Maybe it's TWINS!"
Lila: "That would be fun. We do have twins in the family!"
Josh in the background: YIKES!
Josh: "Mom we were wondering if you guys would like to go to Germany for Christmas with us, we want to buy a stroller."
Tammy: "A stroller?"....sinks in....they were SUPER excited! :)
Josh's Mom calls Josh's Grandparents:
Tammy: "Josh and Lila want to borrow the stroller"
Grandpapa: "Which one?"..ha ha!!
Not "well why, or what for"!! :)
All of our brothers (and our sister-in-law) were very happy to hear they're going to be Uncles (and Aunt).
So far I have not felt sick, Praise the Lord, i am so grateful..because i have heard horror stories! The only sign i have had is that my mouth waters, a lot, almost to the point of drooling! ha ha :) We have our first OB appointment on Wednesday, Sept 3, so we will know mor
e then. Our estimated due date (from the computer), is April 26th, 2009.
We are praying for a healthy baby, we don't mind boy or girl. We pray often for hands and feet, stomach, brain, and heart to all develop well. We'll keep you posted! ;)

This is the T-shirt I made for Josh, my original idea of how to tell him he's going to be a Daddy! :)
